Switching technology with power MOSFETs
Abstract
MOSFET power transistors are discussed in the context of their advantages and applications. Performance characteristics with regard to control, static operation, and heat resistance are taken into account. Switching behavior is considered, with emphasis on switching time and power loss, and it is indicated that MOSFETs are superior to bipolar transistors at low currents and at high switching frequencies. Application possibilities in such areas as ultrasonic generators, and electronic engine-ignitions are noted.
