New determination of the Cavendish gravitational constant
Abstract
The present paper deals with an experiment conducted to determine the Cavendish gravitational constant which is the proportionality coefficient, G, in the equation that describes Newton's law of gravitation. The experiment was carried out essentially along the lines of the Heyl, Chrzanowski (1942) experiment, but with certain modifications of both facility and procedure. The new value of G obtained from the experiment is G = (6.745 plus or minus 0.005) 10 to the minus thirteenth cu m/kg-sq sec.
