Carbon: Occurrence of carbyne forms of carbon in natural graphite
Abstract
A study of several natural graphitic formations, from geographical locations ranging from Ceylon to California, revealed that many graphites contain small amounts of carbyne forms of carbon. The results indicate that these "rare" carbon forms have worldwide distribution and have existed in these formations for at least 60 million years.
