Optimization method of determining the shape of a maximum-gain filamentary antenna
Abstract
In the present paper, the radiation formula for the elementary dipole is applied to the calculation of the radiation field generated, at large distances, by a filamentary antenna of arbitrary configuration, the current distribution over which is assumed to be known. The maximum gain configuration is then determined by optimization, making use of the calculus of variations.
