The Gegenschein and the relation of Danjon.
Abstract
Danjon (1920) had speculated that the brightness of the eclipsed moon rapidly decreases immediately after solar activity minima. It is shown in the present paper that zodiacal light in the antisun direction shows behavior similar to that of eclipsed-moon brightness, with a time shift of about 2 years, however. It is shown that both effects are related to the behavior of the solar corona during a solar cycle.
