Similarity laws for turbulent stratified shear flows
Abstract
Data available in the literature seem to confirm some form of Reynolds number self-similarity for turbulent stratified shear flow. It is argued that such self-similarity is not always complete, and numerical calculations or empirical evidence should be used to determine the possibility of incomplete self-similarity. Examples of incomplete self-similarity are reviewed, and a theory of it is proposed for turbulent stratified shear flow.
