Similarity laws for turbulent stratified shear flows
Abstract
Data available in the literature seem to confirm some form of Reynolds number selfsimilarity for turbulent stratified shear flow. It is argued that such selfsimilarity is not always complete, and numerical calculations or empirical evidence should be used to determine the possibility of incomplete selfsimilarity. Examples of incomplete selfsimilarity are reviewed, and a theory of it is proposed for turbulent stratified shear flow.
