Distance Estimate for the Galactic Supernova Remnant G46.8-0.3
Abstract
The kinematic distance to the galactic supernova remnant G46.8-0.3 is determined from 21-cm H I absorption and emission features toward the source. Equal-velocity contour maps for the source region are examined which were constructed at intervals of 1 km/s for the LSR radial-velocity range from -80 to +80 km/s. The results obtained indicate that the kinematic distance to G46.8-0.3 is between 6.8 and 8.6 kpc from the sun. For an adopted distance of 7.7 kpc, G46.8-0.3 is estimated to have a linear size of 31 x 40 pc and to lie 37 pc below the
