Optical identification of the peculiar supernova remnant G326.3-1.8.
Abstract
An Ha interference filter photograph obtained with the CTIO 4 m telescope shows faint nebulosity (that contains crisp filaments) embedded in the outer shell of the peculiar galactic radio source 0326.3 - 1.8 = MSH 15 - 56. No optical emission is found to be associated with the small polarized flat-spectrum source Kes 25 that is located within this shell. Two planetary nebulae were discovered near the edge of the radio source. Subject headings: nebulae: planetary - nebulae: supernova remnants
