Variations of period and radial velocities amplitude of del Cet.
Abstract
Secular variations of the period of Delta Ceti has been determined on the basis of previously known and new radial velocity observations. The period of the star increases at a rate of 0.11 s/century. The phase lag between light and radial velocity curves of the star is equal of 0.19 of the period; this is slightly different value than generally accepted for the Beta Cephei type variables. The star also indicates a secular increase of the range of the radial velocity at a rate of 7.8 km/s/century. It is concluded that Delta Ceti is at the core hydrogen burning evolutionary stage. The comparison of Delta Ceti with BW Vul shows that the stars are similar.
