The Morasko meteorite shower
Abstract
Diameters and depths are given for eight meteorite craters, some of which are now lakes, in the village of Morasko, Poland. Analysis of soil samples taken near the craters reveals the presence of both shiny and dull spherules and indicates that two explosions may have occurred in the atmosphere. The direction of the meteorite trajectory is determined. The azimuth of the radiant is found to be in the range from 190 to 200 deg; for an assumed radiant elevation of 30 deg the heights of the two postulated explosions are estimated to be about 220 m and 130 m, respectively.
