A model of a dust cloud heated by a set of embedded stars.
Abstract
A theoretical model of a spherical dust cloud heated by several embedded stars is presented. The resolution of the intermediate problem of a point source in an infinite medium allows a quasi-analytical formulation of the radiative equilibrium equation. The effects of the following parameters on the average dust temperature are studied: grain models (silicate, core-mantle ice silicate, graphite), number and spectral types of embedded stars, opacity and dimension of the cloud. Several possible applications of the model are proposed.
