On the interpretation of the large variations in the line positions in SS433.
Abstract
Available data on the variable positions of unidentified red and IR lines in the spectrum of the emission-line star SS433 are studied in order to search for systematic patterns in the time variability. The lines are found to move symmetrically about a fixed mean. Implications of this result are considered for the class of models that involve two emitting regions moving in opposite directions. Three schematic configurations that can serve as frameworks for more detailed models are outlined which are consistent with the observational constraints.
