Outlook for development of satellite communication systems
Abstract
The cardinal advantages of satellite systems over conventional forms of communication is the possibility of worldwide communication over a wide frequency band, and not only with fixed, but with moving objects. The developments in satellite communication to inhance these possibilities are discussed through analysis of the various system components. Major topics of discussion include: (1) methods of increasing the throughput of satellite communication systems, multi-wire antennas, antennas with switching of radiation patterns; (2) satellite antennas, optical systems; (3) multistation access, space time channel separation (STCS); (4) relay units with STCS; and (5) stages of practical realization.
