Two-phase problems in PWR's
Abstract
The loss of coolant accident (LOCA), with special reference to two phase flow phenomena is examined. The light water power reactor LOCA stages, blowdown, emergency core cooling (ECC), refill, and reflood are described. The importance of LOCA as the design-base accident and the uncertainties involved in two phase flow measurements are stressed. The uncertainty not only affects the accuracy of prediction, but also reduces confidence in the ability to postulate and select models.
