Multihole couplers between different waveguides. Theory and experiments
Abstract
A procedure to obtain, with the required approximation, the phase shift in multihole couplers between equal or different waveguides is presented in order to avoid the problem of experimental adjustment when a strong coupling is wanted. The experimental results show good agreement with theory. This design method was extensively used to produce couplers between the TE1C of rectangular waveguides and the more important modes of circular waveguides (TE01, TE02, TE11, TE12, TM11). In the described example for a coupler with the TE01 mode a 0.5 dB coupling was obtained at the design frequency (30 to 38 GHz band).
