EMC in perspective
Abstract
Currently, the radio frequency spectrum is used to an extent where no transmitter, for any purpose, can expect to have sole use of any part of the spectrum, since the spectrum cannot be expanded. This describes the nature of the problem, and is the fundamental reason for the persistence of interest in EMC. In the present paper, an attempt is made to put EMC in proper perspective in regard to the older RFI concept (which it has replaced). The three main stages of frequency management - allocation, allotment, and assignment - are discussed.
