Measurements of refractive index microstructure and scintillation fading in a tropical region
Abstract
The paper describes refractive index temporal spectral density function and scintillation fading measurements in a tropical region. Experiments were carried out in the urban area of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, from October to December, 1977. Climatic conditions during this period were warm and humid, with average temperature between 22 and 25 C and relative humidity ranging from 75 to 80%. Consideration is given to the theoretical principles and measurement of refractive index microstructure. Log-amplitude fluctuations and frequency spectrum of scintillation are also analyzed.
