Study of Josephson superconducting point contacts made from type II superconductors
Abstract
The paper reports on experiments with Josephson junctions using Nb3Sn-Nb3Sn and Nb3Sn-Nb and Nb-Nb3Sn superconducting point contacts. Such contacts exhibited both hyperbolic and parabolic current-voltage characteristics. The mixed contacts Nb3Sn-Nb and Nb-Nb3Sn were the most stable during tuning and during cooling and heating cycle tests. The contacts studied showed promise of being capable of operating over extended periods of time without degradation of the geometric shape of the point, as opposed to Nb-Nb contacts.
