Microelectronics and LSI - A true electronics revolution
Abstract
Applications of large-scale integrated (LSI) circuits to telecommunications networks, cardiac pacemakers and X-ray tomography are discussed. The development of medium- and large-scale integrated circuits is reviewed, and the use of LSI circuits in microprocessors is considered. In treating telecommunications applications of LSI circuits, the study describes the principle of operation of supertransparent silicon fibers. Mass production of LSI circuits based on metal oxide semiconductors also receives attention.
