A search for rapid Variability in eight quasars and BL Lacertae objects
Abstract
Data are presented on the results of a photographic patrol of eight quasars between November 1977 and April 1978. The quasars observed are 3C120, PKS0735+178, PKS0736+017, OJ287, ON325, W Com = ON321, 3C273, and OQ208. Four of the objects were observed ten to twenty times within a week. The source of the comparison sequence and the observed magnitudes of each object are listed, and data for PKS 0735+178, ON325, and 3C273 are graphed. Four of the objects were observed ten to twenty times within a week. PKS0735+178 was found to vary significantly in brightness on a time scale of weeks.
