Observations on V1357 CYG = CYG X-1. The search for the optical radiation of the accretion disk
Abstract
The data from observations of V1357 Cyg during 30 nights in July-September 1977, are presented. The contribution of the disk to the optical of the system is computed taking into account the heating of its surface by V1357 Cyg UV radiation and by Cyg X-1 X-ray radiation. It is suggested that the disk optical radiation can account for the nonregular variability of the system brightness. The possibility of eclipses of the star by the disk and vice versa is discussed.
