Models for the calculation of chlorine gas leakage from pressure tanks
Abstract
Based on gas flow rate data previously determined, a computer was used to describe gas leakage from a tank containing condensed chlorine. Computer models were developed in order to facilitate the analysis of risks resulting from accidental chemical leakage. A normative diagram derived from these models is presented and is intended to be used in calculating chlorine gas leak rates from tanks of arbitrary shape and size as well as with different puncture sizes and at various temperatures. An explanation of how the diagram can be used to practically describe certain leak characteristics is also included.
