On the morphology and dynamics of galaxies
Abstract
Within the framework of current modeling assumptions many commonly observed galactic phenomena seem to defy theoretical explanation. This paper discusses the principles of hierarchical organization and self-similarity as the bases of a new set of modeling assumptions which, although they are largely heuristic at present, could lead to a more complete understanding of galactic structure and dynamics.
