Utilization of infrared detectors. Conference held at Los Angeles, Calif., USA, 16 - 18 January 1978.
Abstract
The present proceedings deal with four problem areas. The first area is concerned with materials and theory, where most papers examine quaternary alloys over the wavelength range 0.19-16 microns with allowance for thicknesses from epitaxial layers to slices of grown crystals; hybrids are discussed in which the same silicon substrate is used for the detectors on one side and for the CCD readout on the other. The second area emphasizes various methods of testing and calibration along with figures of merit for detectors. The third area deals with IR astronomy, where sensors for satellite programs designed to map the sky over the wavelength range 8-1000 microns are described, along with a method of in situ calibration of cryogenically cooled IR sensors using IR stars as sources. The fourth area is devoted to cooling methods and techniques, as well as to the performance of sensors at various temperatures.
