Solution of a modified Lagrange problem for a two-piston system
Abstract
A Lagrange problem for a system of two pistons with identical diameters and taking into account formation and propagation of shock waves is formulated. The influence of various parameters of the system on the motion of the pistons is analyzed numerically. The numerical algorithm is for computation of one-dimensional unsteady ideal gas flows with strong discontinuities. It employs the method of characteristics to reduce the amount of computations.
