Synchronous excitation of the fundamental harmonic of the field of a periodic structure by an incident nonrelativistic beam
Abstract
The paper considers the excitation of a planar ridge-shaped periodic structure in an O-type microwave oscillator by a premodulated electron beam incident at large angle on the surface of the structure. The synchronous excitation of spatial harmonics during the interaction of electrons with the transverse component of the electric field is examined. Experimental results corroborate the possibility of synchronous excitation of the fundamental spatial harmonic of the periodic structure by a nonrelativistic beam incident at large angle.
