Nonlinear aberrations of optical systems
Abstract
Formulas are presented for evaluating nonlinear aberrations occurring in the body and at the surfaces of components of optical systems. Nonlinear aberrations in systems for the conversion of intense light beams can be reduced by reducing the thickness of optical components, using components with low nonlinearity of the refractive index and increasing the beam aperture. The analysis is possibly applicable to the development of high-power neodymium lasers for controlled fusion experiments.
