Effects of the core hole perturbation of the X-ray spectra of metals and impurity systems
Abstract
Calculations were done for the outer shell absorption and emission spectra of Li, Na, Mg, Al, K, Rb and Cs. In addition, calculations were done for the impurity systems F(-) in Na, F(-) in K and Ne in K. The effects of the core hole perturbation on X-ray spectra were studied by investigating its effect on the one electron spectra by testing the predictions of Mahan, Nozieres and de Dominicis (MND) of how the many electron response to the core hole perturbation would modify the X-ray spectra near threshold. Both the one electron spectra and the parameters of the MND theory were evaluated using the scattering states found for the self-consistent potentials.
