Parametric generation of intense nanosecond pulses in the 0.74-1.85 micron range
Abstract
The paper presents experimental results on a nanosecond-pulse parametric generator, tunable in the 0.74-1.85 micron range and based on an LiIO3 crystal which is pumped by the second harmonic of an Nd laser. A pumping-power density of 70-80 MW/sq cm leads to breakdown of the crystal. The conversion efficiency near the breakdown threshold was 12.5%, while the pulse-generation energy was 0.5 J.
