Improved performance of the discharge-pumped XeCl laser
Abstract
The performance of the XeCl excimer laser has been improved through the use of HCl as the chlorine donor in a UV-preionized discharge-excited device. Laser output energies of 110 mJ have been extracted with an electrical efficiency of over 0.8 percent. Tuning and single line operation of the XeCl laser have been demonstrated. Laser emission has also been observed on new lines originating on the υ = 1 level of the upper laser state of XeCl.
