A new device for measuring the electric field of air
Abstract
The described device for measuring the electric field of air combines advantages of the 'field mill' and 'radioactive collector' approaches. The device is intended for use in tropics for measuring the field associated with a storm. Advantages in comparison with classical techniques include low time constant, lower radioactivity requirement, and reduced distance between the measurement and amplification points (the amplification site is in the 'field mill').
