Determination of boron and zirconium microalloying elements in molybdenum
Abstract
A spectrographic method is described for determining the boron and zirconium contents in microalloyed powder metallurgical molybdenum samples remelted in an electron beam oven. By means of a comparison series, boron concentrations are obtained after dissolving in an alkaline solution, while zirconium concentrations are obtained upon dissolving in acid solution. The detection limit for boron is 0.001% and for zirconium it is 0.01%. Sample homogeneity is tested by mathematical-statistical methods.
