Infrared Fe II lines in Eta Carinae and a possible interpretation of infrared excesses.
Abstract
The identification of very strong emission lines in the near infrared spectrum of Eta Carinae with newly recognized high-level transitions of Fe II raises the possibility that the infrared excesses of hot emission-line stars may be due to dielectronic recombination of Fe II. Johansson's Fe II lines also need to be considered in the interpretation of the infrared spectra of supernovae.
