A new method for the principal strain analysis by using a mismatch changeable equipment
Abstract
The moire rosette method is a convenient means for determining the principal strains and their directions at any point on a largely deformed body. The authors proposed previously that the use of master grids with different mismatch values is effective for determining the principal axes or for discriminating the sign of principal strains. But this method has a drawback that many master grids with different mismatch values must be prepared. In this paper, a new method for determining the principal strains by the mismatch changing procedure only is proposed, and an equipment is presented, with which grids with any mismatch values can be obtained. Besides, the practicability of this new method is discussed.
