Analysis of planar circuit with short-circuit boundary by normal mode method - Via impedance matrix
Abstract
A method for analyzing planar circuits with short-circuit boundaries is proposed wherein the field is first expanded in terms of eigenmodes including nonpropagating higher-order modes. Then by matching the field at reference plane, an impedance matrix is derived for the dominant TE(10) mode with the planar circuit viewed from the reference plane. The validity of the method is verified by the use of a simple circuit as well as by numerical examples.
