Elastomer display device
Abstract
A new type of an elastomer device, provided with a conductive elastomer electrode to charge an insulating elastomer surface, is described. This device has a layered structure, consisting of a conductive transparent substrate, an insulating elastomer layer, a reflective coating and a conductive elastomer layer. When an electric field is placed between the conductive substrate and the conductive elastomer, deformation occurs at the insulating elastomer and conductive elastomer interface. As an example of practical application to display devices, the segmented numeric display device is demonstrated.
