Investigation of losses due to change of direction of incompressible flow
Abstract
An analysis has been made by which one can predict the losses due to change in direction of flow in any continuous curve. In the present work it was applied to Archimedes and logarithimic spiral. Effects of radius, curvature, and total angle turned by flow have been discussed. The equation developed was solved with the help of numerical method using CDC 3600 computer. Experiments were conducted for different angles, radii and profiles. The calculated values are in good agreement with experimental results.
