Microcomputer technology
Abstract
A general overview of the semiconductor technologies available for the fabrication of microcomputers is presented. The limitations of the competing MOS and bipolar devices are briefly summarized. Factors which influence the choice of a particular technology such as cost and performance are then considered, and the various available LSI technologies are compared on the basis of factors identified. General predictions regarding the future microprocessor technologies and the necessary processes needed to establish these technologies are presented.
