WRA 977
Abstract
M. Pakull, European Southern Observatory, communicates: "New photometric observations of WRA 977, the optical counterpart of 4U 1223-62, are combined with earlier results (Bord et al. 1976, Astrophys. J. 203, 689; Hammerschlag-Hensberge et al. 1976, Astron. Astrophys. 49, 321; van Genderen 1977, ibid. 54, 733) to establish an ellipsoidal lightcurve with a period of 22.60 +/- 0.02 days (2-sigma) and a full amplitude of 0.04 magnitude. This period also shows up in the individual data sets. A comparison with Mauder et al.'s (1978, Mitt. Astron. Ges. 43, 227) radial-velocity curve suggests that superior conjunction (x-ray source behind) occurred on 1978 July 7.6 +/- 1.1 UT. No periodic signal can be distinguished at 40.8 days (White et al. 1978, Monthly Notices Roy. Astron. Soc. 184, 67P) or its harmonics."
