A method for analyzing the generation of Reynolds stress in compressible turbulent flow
Abstract
A geometric interpretation of the grouping of the generation and rate of variation terms of the Reynolds stress is presented. The rotation rate, the volume change rate, and the constant-volume rate are considered with reference to the roles of the isotropic and anisotropic components. A quantity which represents the disturbance in the direction of a certain vector is defined and applied in the analysis.
