Intermodulation in memoryless nonlinear amplifiers accessed by FM and/or PSK signals
Abstract
Analytical expressions are derived for both the RF and FM baseband power spectral density of third-order intermodulation between an arbitrary number of FM and PSK carriers which access a zero-memory bandpass nonlinear amplifier in an FDMA mode. For calculating the power spectral density of the intermodulation for carrier configurations that include single-channel-per carrier (SCPC)/FM carriers, a telescopic method is adopted. In addition, a user-oriented computer program has been developed to compute the RF and baseband intermodulation power spectral densities. When SCPC/FM carriers are involved, a band of equivalent thermal noise is not always an adequate model for the highly peaked RF and baseband intermodulation power spectral densities.
