The abundance and distribution of interstellar C2H.
Abstract
The previously reported microwave discovery of interstellar C2H has been confirmed by the detection of two hitherto unobserved hyperfine components of the N = 1-0 transition. Slightly refined values of the fine-structure and hyperfine-structure coupling constants based on the new observations are presented. Maps of C2H emission in Orion and in DR 21 show integrated intensities which vary slowly with position. Failure to detect C2H emission from dark clouds has yielded upper limits to the C211 column density in those objects. Negative results of searches for 13CCH and for propane (C3H8) are presented.
