Multiphase operation of self-oscillating switching regulators
Abstract
Because of the power handling limitations of space qualified semiconductor devices, such elements are quite often used in parallel in switching regulators to meet the high power requirements. In such a situation, the power is shared in phase between the power handling devices, since all of them switch simultaneously. This simultaneous switching action creates problems in filtering and electromagnetic screening. Multiphase operation is employed primarily to minimize these problems. The principle of multiphase operation of power conditioners of driven type was already reported in literature. But there is no report of multiphase operation of the self-oscillating power conditioners. The multiphase operation of power conditioner (switching regulator) is reported.
