Radar signal processing using fiber and integrated optics
Abstract
Several applications of fiber and integrated optics to wideband radar signal processing are discussed. Among these are delay lines for pulse-to-pulse integration of wideband (high range resolution) radar returns, tapped delay lines for use as matched filters, and pseudorandom sequence generation. The devices required for realization of these and other applications are also considered. These devices include light emitting diodes, injection lasers, and optical modulators. Attention is also given to photodetectors and receivers, the characteristics of optical fiber transmission lines, the wideband noncoherent moving target indicator, and an electrooptic analog-to-digital converter.
