A new approach to pulse Doppler processing
Abstract
Doppler processing techniques are considered along with the methods of time-compressed SAW processing, taking into account the spectrum analyzer and the data store. A description is presented of the results of an investigation in which several prototype processors have been constructed to evaluate the modular approach to Doppler processing based on interfacing an SAW spectrum analyzer to the radar through an appropriate storage configuration. It is found that both C-SAW (processor using CCD storage) and digital-SAW combinations offer adaptable modular signal processing units for a variety of radars, the CCD versions although less completely developed being of particular relevance to miniature low power systems.
