Carrier synchronization of CPFSK signals
Abstract
This paper presents a technique for obtaining the carrier reference necessary for coherent demodulation of a multilevel continuous-phase frequency-shift keyed (CPFSK) signal with a rational deviation ratio. It is a self-synchronization technique, extracting the required reference directly from the received data signal and thus dispensing with the use of a separate channel for the purpose of synchronization. Its performance is analyzed in terms of phase-error variance and compared with that of the pilot-tone technique.
