Calibration of high-voltage pulse measurement systems based on the Kerr effect
Abstract
High voltage pulse measurements performed using systems based on the electrooptic Kerr effect permit state-of-the-art measurements (uncertainties approximately equal to + or - 1 percent). Because the precision of the measurement can be significantly bettter than the accuracy, techniques to improve the calibration of the system were investigated in two areas: the determination of correction factors to account for differences in environmental factors between the calibration of the system and its use; and the feasibility of calibrating the Kerr system at a number of discrete frequencies and using this calibration for pulse measurement.
