Operational evaluation of computer aided design tools for large scale avionics sensor integration
Abstract
The paper describes the operational evaluation of two computer programs for designing large scale sensor integration: Multiplex Systems Simulator (MUXSIM) and Standard Interface Applicability Analysis Program (SIAAP). The evaluation led to the observation that the two programs are supportive in nature, MUXSIM used for data bus traffic analysis and SIAAP for detailed subsystem interface design. The programs require specific electrical interface and timing data, which can be used to evaluate alternative architectures on an absolute basis. The programs provide a fast response to design innovations, allowing multiple design interactions during program evolution.
