Passive Optical Range Simulator
Abstract
A Passive Optical Range Simulator (PORS) concept is described which permits end-to-end testing of electro-optical systems containing an optical radar without the use of a surveyed outdoor test range. The test capabilities include range calibration, multi-beam boresight confirmation, and verification of round trip system performance. The PORS is capable of direct optical interface with a system undergoing test, and employs a fiber optics waveguide delay line as the basis of calibration. A practical embodiment is presented and its design and operational features discussed.
