An exact, time-saving synthesis procedure for UHF and microwave networks
Abstract
A synthesis procedure is developed for low-pass and impedance-matching networks which are composed of commensurate-length transmission line segments in cascade ladder configurations. The procedure is applicable to networks at UHF and microwave frequencies. The application of a simple combinatorial algorithm to the network structure yields the transmission loss function of symmetrical, low-pass configurations. This process eliminates the matrix multiplications required by most previous techniques. The general transmission loss function derived is compared to a transfer function exhibiting the desired response. This provides mathematical relations specifying the impedances of the respective lines of the network.
